Service Ministries

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

1 Peter 4:10:

At Christ the King, we believe service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life — flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace. Loving, liberated service to others is more than a one-time or even ongoing activity. Being baptized into Christ’s life creates a whole new world of relationships — with God, with others and even with ourselves — that is characterized by loving, liberated service.

Music at Christ the King

Christ the King has an adult choir that sings most Sunday mornings at our 9:30 service; they rehearse at 8:15 am.

If you’re interested in joining the choir or play an instrument you’d like to share with the congregation, please contact our Music Director, Joanne Hines at joannehines55@gmail.com.

Prayer Ministry

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth”.  Psalm 145:18

May we pray for you or someone you love?

God invites us (everyone) into His presence to share our hearts –  our struggles, sorrows, and disappointments, as well as our joys and thanksgivings.  Let us pray with you, for you, and for the ones you love, knowing that our loving Father not only hears the words formed in our minds, but also feels the ache heavy in our hearts.

Here’s a prayer you can use when words are hard to find.  When praying for someone else, replace your name with theirs.

Dear loving and faithful Father, touch me with your healing hand, renew my strength and fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.  Let Your Holy Spirit work within me to strengthen my faith and bring comfort and hope where there is pain and uncertainty.
Thank you, Lord, for Your unfailing love and mercy.  I pray through Jesus, my Savior.  Amen

When you complete the Prayer Request form below, your request will go directly to our Prayer Team leader who will confirm with you that your request has been received.  All members of the Prayer Team are notified and will lift up your request in prayer to God every day.
Your prayer request is held in confidence.

Thank you for this honor.

We meet from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the home of Quinta Andersen. Transportation will be provided for those who may need a ride. On September 10, we will begin with the challenging Book of Malachi, last book in the Old Testament. You may sign-up on the poster in the narthex or on-line. Please let Hope Hotchkiss or Quinta Andersen know if you plan to attend. Please invite your friends to join us. We had 7 members and 2 guests at our summer readings.

Men’s Bible Study:  Men’s Bible Study is held on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, from 7:30-9:00 AM.  For those of you who can’t get to the church at that time, we are hosting our October 25 meeting via Zoom, accompanying our in-person meeting in the church library.  No preparation needed; we are currently finishing up a discussion on James, often described as the “New Testament Proverbs”.  Please contact Mike Tarsi or Mark Reynolds for further information.
